SEMINAR OUTLINE:
New studies support findings that Periodontal bacteria may be linked to heart disease and other health problems. Periodontal bacteria can enter the bloodstream and travel to major organs and begin new infections. Research is suggesting that this may:
Contribute to the development of heart disease, the nation's leading cause of death.
Increase the risk of stroke.
Increase a woman's risk of having a preterm, low birth weight baby.
Pose a serious threat to people whose health is compromised by diabetes, respiratory disease, or osteoporosis.

THE GOAL: This lecture is designed to simplify the diagnosis, the ABCDE rule and the classification of the most common pathological lesions observed in everyday practice; it will also will help in determining the method of treatment, type of the biopsy and deciding when to treat and when to refer these cases
DESIGNED FOR: General Dentists, Dental Hygienists, and Staff.
DURATION: 45 minutes to one hour.

Periodontal procedures - enhancement to restorative dentistry. With advances in technology, restorative dentistry has evolved in complexity over the last few decades. As a result, collaboration between restorative dentists and periodontists becomes even more critical in the overall optimal care of our patients. In this presentation, periodontal procedures that are commonly used to enhance restorative procedures will be discussed. Indications and limitations of these procedures will also be evaluated in detail. At the end of the presentation, a few clinical cases will be shown for discussion related to clinical application and significance.
